Chloroform that sucka

Here's an illustration from the novel I'm reading now!

It's another Michael Chabon book, called Gentlemen of the Road, and it's very good. A classic adventure tale in true nostalgic Chabon style!

The guy on the left is Zelikman, a physician from the Frankish Kingdom. He's one half of a mercenary team, and his job is, mostly, to chloroform people so his giant partner Amram can beat em up. I love those two, they are so fun!

The other guy is just some random soldier that Zelikman chloroformed. Poor guy never saw it coming :/

I'd love to get some feedback on the lighting. The background is, as usual, a cop out.
