5th Die Comic

LONG ASS DESCRIPTION AHOY:

This is my final submission for the 5th Die at



WOW This is the first complete piece of art I have done in like EVER. I spent a buttload of time on it and I'm fairly proud of how it turned out! Things I know I need to improve on: Coherent color scheme; filling space effectively; implying motion without being OBVIOUS about it.

Since this comic's requirement was to have zero text, here is my brief explanation of the page (hopefully it's somewhat clear?):

Bastiaan (having removed all clothing that would be cumbersome like shoes, vest, hat, belt) dives down into the depths of the sea. He has no coherent plan, everyone else has forged ahead, and short on time he decides to try his best. He was always a strong swimmer with a good lung capacity, having lived by the sea his whole life. Maybe he can make it...

But no! Bastiaan struggles to hold his breath as the sea deepens, and lurking in the murky depths is a monstrous shadow...

OMG Bastiaan comes face to face with the fearsome Mwamba (c. *Kittydakitsune) and loses all his remaining breath in shock and fear! Mwamba prepares to bite his lil head off.

Suddenly a huge and surprisingly powerful burst of bubbles batters Mwamba to retreat! Bastiaan would wonder where it came from, but he's passed out from lack of oxygen. But if he had been awake, he would have seen that it was none other than a friendly Whike who saved him!

The Whike, using its natural ability, supplies Bastiaan with a vast amount of oxygen, saving his life.

The gentle creature then carries the groggy Bastiaan, who begins to wake up...

And his eyes behold the lost city below! (Weirdly Islamic influenced?) The creature seemed to know where he needed to be and is bringing him there speedily.

Bastiaan enters the main hall and finds...a chest full of rubies! Oh man what is he going to do with that??
